Author's Purpose

Today we started thinking about the writer's purpose. This is something that can help us understand what we are reading.

The author's purpose is why the writer has written the text.

We discussed 3 different purposes for writing:

- to persuade - to get the reader to do or believe something.
- to inform - to teach the reader or give them information.
- to entertain - to make the reader enjoy reading.

We have been reading a huge range of texts and thinking about why the author may have written it!

Commenting on Blogs

Last Friday and today we have been looking at how to comment on blogs! We looked at the below picture and talked about what a good comment needs. We then looked at the other Maungaraki school blogs and started commenting! Keep an eye out for some of our comments.
