We have been learning about fossil fuels. We conducted an experiment to find out how fossil fuels are made. We learnt that they are made from dead plant life and animals and over millions of years, with lots of pressure, they mix with sand and sediment.
For our experiment we had three pieces of bread, which were the layers of sand and sediment, and gummy lollies, which were the animals and plant life which go into create fossil fuels.
We put the lollies in between the layers of bread and created pressure by putting books on top of them.
We checked them after one day and took samples. The bread was a lot flatter and the lollies were a little bit softer.
Then we left them for three more days and then cut them open.
We found that the bread was even flatter and the lollies were now really soft and squishy. It was hard to see the different layers of bread and the lollies had started to mix in with the bread a little bit.

Making Inferences
For our reading we are learning to make inferences. We learnt that we use our prior knowledge and the information we find in the text to help us make an inference.
We used these pictures and our prior knowledge to make inferences about what was happening in the picture.

We Love Our Support Staff!
Wednesday June 11th was Support Staff Day. We are so lucky to have support staff in Room 8 everyday helping with our learning! We made these cards to show how much we appreciate them!
